Medium size, slower growing "palm"
Very cold hardy plus great in full sun
Adaptable to many landscape designs
Low maintenance and little pruning
Sabal palmettos, sometimes called Sabal palms or Cabbage palmettos can be used in a wide variety of landscape styles from tropical and sub tropical to Mediterranean styles. This palm initially appears as fronds growing directly from the ground, but after a few years, begins to develop a unique trunk pattern, formed from the old fronds that have been trimmed off.
Sabal palmettos are adaptable to many types of soil from brackish coastal soils to salty desert soils. They are very hardy to winter cold and are commonly grown in full sun from Texas to the hot deserts of the southwest. Because they are slower growing, they are easy to maintain, but this also means it takes some time for the tree to develop. Call our nurseries today for complete sizes available!

Most popular selling dwarf palm for the region
Visually appealing in many landscape styles
Perfect around pools, patios & courtyards
Wonderful for large pots and containers
If you're looking to add a tropical accent to your landscape, definitely
Consider pygmy date palms in your design!
These soft, tropical palms feature many trunks of varying height or can be grown with just a single trunk. These dwarf palms are great in smaller yards or near pools and make excellent accents when planted near larger, upright palms. We custom grow our large pygmy date palms at our farms in the inland areas of southern california. The weather conditions, combined with widely spaced container growing and our special palm fertilizer, generates thicker trunks, fuller crowns, and more robust roots. Not only do these palms look better than the average pygmy date palm, they perform better, are able to thrive in hot, full sun planting locations and are more cold hardy than typical pygmy date palms.
